Frank Black - Bluefinger ($12.99) [The Pixies iconic lead singer Frank Black dons his decades-old moniker - Black Francis - and, imbued by the spirit of eccentric Dutch painter/musician Herman Brood, recorded a brand new set of 11 songs, collectively titled Bluefinger. Black Francis recorded Bluefinger in September 2006 in Portland, OR. Appearing on guitars, harmonica and vocals, Francis was joined in the studio by drummer Jason Carter (Guards of Metropolis), Violet Clarke on vocals, and bassist Dan Schmid (The Visible Men). Mark Lemhouse produced the album. Bluefinger showcases a Herman Brood cover, You Can't Break a Heart and Have It, and ten Black Francis originals: Captain Pasty, Test Pilot Blues, Lolita, Tight Black Rubber, Angels Come to Comfort You, Your Mouth Into Mine, Discotheque 36, She Took All the Money, Blue Finger, and Threshold Apprehension. ]

Dropkick Murphys - Meanest Of Times ($11.99) [DKM come out swinging with their sixth studio album; a collection of tales about family, loyalty, and remembering where you came from. It contains all the best elements of the band's sound: a complex distillation of classic punk rock, Celtic folk, and American rock 'n' roll. It puts the band's diversity, intensity, and sincerity on full display. For fans of The Pogues, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen. ]

High On Fire - Death Is This Communion ($11.99) [The almighty HIGH ON FIRE reemerge from the shadows to conquer the masses with their signature brand of brazen metal. Produced and recorded by Jack Endino (NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN), Death Is This Communion is High On Fire's ultimate sonic masterpiece. Matt Pike's unmistakable guitar playing and throaty war cry lead the charge, while Des Kensel's massive drumming takes on a new life and pushes the beast onward more urgently than ever. From the rampaging Rumors of War and Fury Whip, through the hypnotic riffs of Ethereal and the album's title track, Death Is This Communion is HIGH ON FIRE's masterwork. ]

Hot Hot Heat - Happiness Ltd ($10.99) [The title song and opening track of Hot Hot Heat's third major-label album will throw some people for a loop. Abandoning the group's familiar new-wave stomp, 'Happiness Ltd.' is a tear-stained ballad with a philosophical kicker worthy of Morrissey: 'Happiness is limited but misery has no end.' Could it be that the members of the keyboard-fronted Canuck band are growing up and taking stock? Not really. It's just that most of the album was written after singer Steven Bays' split with a long-term girlfriend and it shows. The disco-rock jitters come back soon enough with the next selection, 'Let Me In,' but there's no denying that the group's horizons have broadened. For every throwback Cure sound-alike, such as 'Give Up?,' there's a lush retort featuring the Abbey Road Orchestra-like 'Outta Heart.' With a host of big-budget producers behind the boards--Butch Walker (Avril Lavigne, Pink), Tim Palmer (U2, David Bowie), and Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance)--it might not represent a complete about-face, but it does represent a band coming of age in a big way.]

Mark Knopfler - Kill to Get Crimson ($12.99) [Mark Knopfler remains an iconic figure in popular music, his graceful guitar playing equaled only by his genial baritone and a novelist's ability to create distinct characters and themes in his songs. His fifth solo album since he pulled the plug on the band in 1995, Crimson reflects on a torrent of narratives, from the gracefully aging spouse in the flute-powered ballad 'The Scaffolder's Wife' to the valiant down-and-outer in the Scottish folk song 'Heart Full of Holes.' Employing accordions, fiddles, and horns as majestic accompaniment, Knopfler drifts into the Celtic-tinged melodies of his past, explicitly in the whiskey-soaked singalong 'Secondary Waltz,' the busker's saga 'Madame Geneva's,' and 'The Fish and the Bird,' with its vagabond pensiveness. Clocking in at just under an hour, the album--without any page-turning epic--plays instead like an anthology of written works, every personification crisp in definition, every story exquisitely told.]

Ben Lee - Ripe ($11.99) [Ben Lee delivers a career-defining release built on his belief that the best song in the world should be the catchiest, and should be popular, and should be the cleverest and the most soulful. RIPE, Lees 6th album, continues Bens trademark pop craftsmanship, sense of humor and uncontainable passion for life, as well as representing a marked maturity in form. The 12-song set includes the exuberant weeping ballad Love Me Like The World Is Ending, the infectious track Blush, an ode to a personal hero in What Would Jay-Z Do?, and the Mandy Moore duet Birds & Bees. ]

Ministry - Last Sucker ($13.99) [Ministrys Al Jourgensens studio has been at warp speed for the past year, furiously hammering out the third and final edition of the trilogy, The Last Sucker follows 2004s Houses Of The Mole and 2006s Rio Grande Blood. After twelve albums and 27 years (including four Grammy nominations), Uncle Als decided the Ministry garage is ready to close its doors, leaving The Last Sucker as the final Ministry studio offering. Welcome to the renegade road warrior Al Jourgensens latest behemoth an off-the-map, 12 hundred horsepower vehicle. Fuel-injected with equal parts fury, disgust, distrust and dismay, spitting and sizzling with grease and venom, each joint heaves under the pressure of emotionally relentless delivery. From the first double-digit salvo of Lets Go, with its deliciously bizarre trademark Ministry wasteland brutality, Jourgensen outlays a glorious smorgasbord of Ministry mayhem.]

Shout Out Louds - Our Ill Wills ($11.99) [Take one listen to Our Ill Wills and youre likely to fall in love with your new favorite new band. While the Shout Out Louds 2005 debut album Howl Howl Gaff Gaff was a great lofiish indie record, Our Ill Wills takes those sounds to a whole different level. Their new record was produced by Bjrn Yttling from Peter Bjorn and John and Im sure he had a prominent role in giving the Swedish quintet such a polished sound. Although, Our Ill Wills has a glossy polished sound the record never hits the overproduced level where you think the record has no heart. In fact the album overflows with heart.]

Voodoo Glow Skulls - Southern California Street Music ($11.99) [The Voodoo Glow Skulls are back and rowdier than ever! The legendary ska-punk outfit has returned with their brand of manic, high-energy, Latino-influenced rock n roll. The band guarantees that this is not only their heaviest album ever, but also their best. On 9/18, everyone will get a taste of what happens when Southern Californi Street Music goes global. ]
