	Joe Bonamassa - Sloe Gin ($12.74) [SLOE GIN effortlessly ranges through heavy blues and acoustic numbers alike, a textured flow that Bonamassa says was in part inspired by Rod Stewart's legendary 1969 debut solo LP. In the liner notes, Joe adds, 'I sequenced the album as a throwback to the side A/side B set-up of vinyl records...listening to an album as a whole is a lost pastime. i wanted to bring that experience back around. Renowned for this fluid phrasing and post-modern fusion of traditional roots blues with rock and roll guts, Bonamassa began playing guitar at age four, and toured with blues icon B.B. King when he was twelve. Recently, Joe was named Best Blues Guitarist in Guitar Magazine's 2007 Reader's Choice Awards. He is also the youngest member of the Memphis, TN-based Blues Foundation's Board of Directors, and a spokesperson for their respected Blues in the Schools Program. ]
	Manu Chao - Radiolina (Dig) ($11.99) [Americans waited six years for a new studio album from one of the most exciting ambassadors of cosmopolitan party/protest music. Infusing rock fundamentals with elements of ska, reggae, punk, and Afro-pop since fronting Mano Negra ('Black Hand') in 1986, Chao's grown by continental leaps as a bandleader since then, as La Radiolina's mix of festival-rousing rock, defiant politics, and multilingual lyrics attests. Lead single 'Rainin in Paradize' alone should propel Chao (ne Oscar Tramor) into the kind of stateside fame he's long enjoyed in Europe and South America. Elsewhere, individual songs suggest direct antecedents--'Mundoreves,' for example, recalls the Eagles' 'Hotel California' with minimal subtlety--but Manu Chao is an unabashed citizen of the world, and to peg his music to specific forebears is in part to miss the point.]
	Ben Harper / Innocent Criminals - Lifeline ($12.74) [Ben Harper--mind or body--rarely rests, be it on the road with backing jam band the Criminals or buried in a studio, where the gifted singer-songwriter lays down his brand of peace-chanting, love-tilting music. His latest is lighter on the rock, with a greater emphasis on gospel, blues, and deeply burning soul. Harper isn't concerned about letting listeners inside that soul, confessing in the title track, 'I don't want to wait a lifetime/Yours or mine.' The solo acoustic closer is classic wear-your-heart-on-your-sleeve, a trait that seems to drift in and out of songs like the ominous ballad 'Younger than Today,' which remembers earlier days being better days, or its mood-opposite 'Say You Will,' where the exultance of a flamboyant piano and gospel backing vocals offset cheesy lines such as 'love you like a candle loves a flame.' The latter is a standout, along with the bluesy opener 'Fight Outta You'; the island-splashed 'In the Colors,' which recalls early-'70s Van Morrison; and 'Put It on Me,' with its brilliant lyric, 'She cuts cherry pie when she looks you in the eye.]
	Talib Kweli - Eardrum ($10.49) [One of the best-known and most acclaimed rappers in hip-hop, Talib Kweli makes his Warner Bros. debut with his first album on his own label, Blacksmith. Eardrum, his fourth solo album, delivers music that matters, that both sparks the mind and makes the body move. Solidifying Kwelis status among raps most talented and important voices, Eardrum deserves to be heard.]
	Lyle Lovett - It's Not Big It's Large ($10.99) [Thank God for Lyle Lovett. All year long Ive been looking for that one great singer/songwriter disc to knock me off my feet. Plenty have come across my desk and plenty have made me think twice, but nothing will touch Its Not Big, Its Large. The Texas-based songwriter releases his first disc since 2003s My Baby Dont Tolerate next week and, my good Lord, it is an absolute masterpiece. Without a doubt, this is going down as the CD of the Year, 2007. You heard it here first.Beginning with the big band jazz swing of instrumental Tickle Toe, Lovett goes for the heart immediately on the soaring-blues spiritual, We Will Rise Up. After that one-two punch he settles into familiar Lovett territory and coasts through some of his best singer/songwriter material, from the bittersweet Dont Cry a Tear, to the nostaligic South Texas Girl and most notably bouncy lead single, Up In Indiana. Its Not Big, Its Large is just as enriching as 1990s self-titled, more bombastic than 1994s I Love Everybody and equal or on par as 2000s Step Inside This House. A must have.]
	Scorpions - Humanity Hour 1 ($11.24) [A stunning surprise package is boxed and tied and ready for unwrapping: Scorpions, Germany's most-successful international music export, are poised to 'sting' once again and are planning a frontal attack on the musical artery of rock fans all over the globe with their new album Humanity-Hour 1. Thirty-five years after the release of their debut album Lonesome Crow, Scorpions believe they have reached a new creative high in their impressive career. And they plan to prove it with the release of album number 21. Even though they have already made music history with hits like 'Wind Of Change', 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' and 'Send Me An Angel'- there is still nothing more exciting than a new challenge, than adding another milestone to the band's history]
	Michelle Shocked - To heaven u ride ($10.99) [Michelle Shocked comes full circle. Her debut album was a bootleg that caught the world off guard and introduced us to her. Unaware that ToHeavenURide was being recorded, it spotlights her where shes always shone brightest live, on stage, in front of an audience. It was a special invitation to personal a gospel set at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and what a show it was! Sister Shocked shines throughout. Highlights include her cover of the Billie Holliday classic God Bless The Child, her cover of The Bands The Weight and amazing renditions of soulful, yes spiritual Shocked originals such as Quality of Mercy which has never before appeared on a Michelle Shocked release (it was on the Grammy Award winning soundtrack, Dead Man Walking). ]
	Toots & Maytals - Light Your Light ($12.74) [Light Your Light, like 2004's duets album True Love, was produced by Richard Feldman, but unlike True Love, which diffused Toots' powerful presence with a succession of rock star partners, this time out Toots is completely center stage (which is always a good thing). True, slide guitarist Derek Trucks is featured on the lead track, a reworking of Toots' 1970s-era 'Johnny Coolman,' but he wisely works the tune instead of trying to steal it. Bonnie Raitt turns up on the second track, again a re-record, this time of the poignant 'Premature,' Toots' cautionary tale about early pregnancy, and again Raitt lets the song lead things. Everything else is all Toots Hibbert, including a fine cover of Otis Redding's 'Pain in My Heart,' a bouncing 'Celia' (featuring Toots' son Hopeton on bass and legendary island drummer Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace), a version of Ray Charles' 'I Got a Woman' (as 'I Gotta Woman'), and the track that will probably get the most attention here, a tribute to the immortal Skatalites and to Studio One producer Coxsone Dodd called 'Tribute to Coxson/Guns of Navarone' that features sax from Dean Fraser.]
	Yes - Live At Montreux ($12.99) [Yes is one of the most innovative and successful rock bands of all time with a career that now spans five decades. In 2003 the band made their first appearance at the Montreux Festival, despite having a long association with the town itself (they recorded there frequently in the seventies). It was a triumphant night and is regarded by both the band members and fans as probably the finest Yes gig ever to be filmed. It has been much in demand and is now finally cleared for release. ]
