Beck - Information
($12.99) [Three years in the making, THE INFORMATION is the album Beck began work on in 2003 with producer Nigel Godrich (Radioheads OK Computer, Kid A; Becks Sea Change, Mutations) and finally completed this year once Gueros massive success and encore touring engagements, as well as Nigels other commitments, were fulfilled. ]
Citizen Cope - Every Waking Moment
($8.99) ['Every Waking Moment' is not a departure from Cope's first two releases, as he sticks to the mellow but musically flavorful style that is highly recognizable as his own. But we love it, and cannot get enough of it. Some of the best songs on this record are the title track 'Every Waking Moment' reminicent of 'Sideways,' and the instrumental funker 'Awe.' ]
Decemberists - Crane Wife
($12.99) [The Decemberists started off being good, but rapidly ascended to indie-rock greatness as they grew into their sound and made it more robust. 'The Crane Wife' is just the natural progression of that, and it's hard to see how anyone could not like these jolly, catchy songs, with the charming lyrics and poignant imagery. Well, maybe if you don't like the sea. ]
Evanescence - Open Door
($12.99) [Evanescence has promised us a bigger, better album, and this album it shows. They've clearly pushed all of their limits and the used all the talents they could. Amy used her powerful voice much more than on Fallen. The vocal was just utterly amazing and gave the album sort of a dream-like, gothic-powerful, carefree and windy feeling.]
Jerry Garcia - Very best of
($18.99) [This special 2-CD collection salutes one of the most legendary figures in all of rock n' roll, beloved Grateful Dead lead guitarist, vocalist and eternal good will ambassador Jerry Garcia. Outsie the realm of the Grateful Dead, Jerry pursued a broad array of folk, bluegrass, blues, and roots rock side projects throughout his storied career. His solo albums capture the heart & soul as well as the rich talents of this incomparable music icon. Disc 1 - studio tracks, Disc 2 - live tracks. ]
Diana Krall - From This Moment On
($12.99) [From This Moment On is an 11-song collection that captures the Canadian-born sensation in full swing, in great company, and at the top of her game. It could also be called her strongest, most cohesive release to date. Krall--for the few still unknowing--is the 41-year old sensation whose cool, heavy-lidded vocals and strikingly sensitive piano-playing has helped her transcend barriers of genre to become a popular artist of the first order who has carved herself a permanent position at the top of the jazz charts.]
Amos Lee - Supply & Demand
($12.99) [He remains a sensitive sort, mixing his insightful, reflective lyrics with lovely, unforced melodies played by backing musicians that stay on low boil. These tunes go down as smoothly as hot chocolate on a cold day, yet Lee brings an unassuming sincerity to the proceedings with his cozy, amiable voice. Comparisons to Bill Withers and James Taylor are accurate if inevitable, but when the gospel organ quivers into 'Skipping Stone,' it's clear Lee isn't stuck in a folk-pop rut.]
Jerry Lee Lewis - Last Man Standing
($14.99) [Twenty-two rock and country legends duet with Jerry Lee Lewis on this incredible package, celebrating The Killer's impact on American music. Among the luminaries igniting these all-new recordings of seminal rock 'n' roll are Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Little Richard, Merle Haggard, Neil Young, and more. ]
Scissor Sisters - Ta-Dah
($10.99) [Since not liking the Scissor Sisters is tantamount to not liking fun, let's just assume that everyone already adores this band and go on from there, OK? The Sisters' hotly anticipated second full-length feel like a streamlined continuation of their debut. It's hard to imagine no one had ever called an album Ta Dah! before, but then these sexy troubadours have no trouble subtly reworking the past to make it almost-new and always joyous.]
