Greg Brown - Evening Call ($12.99) [Grammy nominee and folk/roots hero Greg Brown delivers his most realized album to date, mixing rough country, sweet folk, dark blues and slow grooves. His first CD of all original material in over 4 years, The Evening Call hits stores August 8th!]

Ani Difranco - Reprieve ($11.99) [Every new album from Ani DiFranco gives listeners a reason to get excited about music all over again, and her latest, Reprieve, is certainly no exception. Across 12 tracks, DiFranco ignites more of her signature blend of poetry, politics and musicianship. The album was tracked in her New Orleans studio in early 2005 during a break in her usually heavy touring schedule. Forced to leave the master recordings behind before Hurricane Katrina, she drove back into the city to retrieve them just three days after the levees broke. From there she headed back to overdub in her hometown of Buffalo with whatever instruments happened to be on hand. ]

Five For Fighting - Two Lights ($12.99) [On his third disc, the one-man musical marvel known as Five for Fighting proves yet again that all that's standing between him and peace of mind--not the fleeting kind, but full-on, to-the-bone, heart-and soul-cleansing peace of mind--is a song. Two Lights picks up where America Town left off, diving smack-dab into the national consciousness and hitting, predictably, a sorrowful spot. First track 'Freedom Never Cries' is a self-skewering lament that calls out to complacent countrymen by way of confession and an artful, piano-enhanced weighing of consequence.]

Michael Franti & Spearhead - Yell Fire ($11.99) [In 2004, Franti and his team traveled to the core of the red-zoned, war torn neighborhoods of Baghdad, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip with his guitar, video cameras, and the intent to experience first hand the human cost of war. Out of this journey, he created a compelling documentary ('I Know I'm Not Alone') and a searing, reflective album of original songs. 'Yell Fire!' is his most compelling, engaged collection of songs, fired by a fury at the injustice of war, and a rediscovery of the love and community that supports those doing the fighting. It embraces reggae, blues, folk, hip-hop, and the anthemic politics.]

John McLaughlin - Industrial Zen ($11.99) [Since the 1970's John Mclaughlin's Long Career Has Always Taken Mysical Turns, from the Mahavishnu Orchestra to Shakti. Here on 'Industrial Zen', Mclaughlin Turns his Well Honed Skills to Jazz Fusion. He is Joined by Many Names that Brought Power-house Jazz Fusion to the Frontline During the '90's, Including Bill Evans, Gary Husband, Mark Mondesir, Vinnie Colauta and Dennis Chambers as Well as Texas Guitar Legend Eric Johnson. ]

Kelly Joe Phelps - Tunesmith Retrofit ($13.99) [Like the late Chris Whitley (to whom the banjo-driven 'Handful of Arrows' is dedicated), Kelly Joe Phelps initially built a following through the sharpness of his chops, but would rather be known for the strength of his songs. Thus this stripped-down exercise in musical intimacy draws attention to lyrics set to homespun melodies, with an occasional fiddle, pedal steel, melodica, or keyboard augmenting Phelps's acoustic accompaniment. Though there's a stately grace to country-tinged tunes such as 'The Anvil' and 'Tight to the Jar,' some of his wordcraft is so oblique and self-consciously poetic that it resists translation.]

Slayer - Christ Illusion ($13.99) [The fastest, heaviest and darkest band on earth retakes its unholy throne with Slayers first studio album in six years and its first studio effort with the original lineup, including drummer Dave Lombardo, since 1990s Seasons In The Abyss. Produced by Josh Abraham (Velvet Revolver, Staind), ]

Ali Farka Toure - Savane ($12.99) [Toure recorded Savane in the Malian capital of Bamako, as part of a three-disc project dubbed the Hotel Mande Sessions, after the studio in which the albums were cut. Savane is the last, perhaps most eloquent, installment. In concept and execution, the sessions recall teh magical combination of spontaneity and virtuosity that marked the debut releases from the Buena Vista Social Club. Toure offers reverberating, incantatory vocals to accompany his lean, hypnotically repetitive guitar lines.]
