Flogging Molly - Whiskey On a Sunday
($12.99) [This full-length documentary was shot over two years and in seven countries, capturing the journey of Flogging Molly from their bar band roots to their current success. Includes footage in the studio, on tour, at home, and at their sold-out homecoming performance at the Wiltern Theater in LA. This 'in the pocket' experience with the candid and charismatic Flogging Molly family is set to the driving beat of their thunderous live performances. Brought together through unlikely happenstance and bound by an intense passion and heartfelt belief in what they do, the seven members and their associates provide a good look at how things can be done against the grain.]
Michael Franti & Spearhead - Yell Fire
($11.99) [In 2004, Franti and his team traveled to the core of the red-zoned, war torn neighborhoods of Baghdad, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip with his guitar, video cameras, and the intent to experience first hand the human cost of war. Out of this journey, he created a compelling documentary ('I Know I'm Not Alone') and a searing, reflective album of original songs. 'Yell Fire!' is his most compelling, engaged collection of songs, fired by a fury at the injustice of war, and a rediscovery of the love and community that supports those doing the fighting. It embraces reggae, blues, folk, hip-hop, and the anthemic politics.]
Jurassic 5 - Feedback
($8.99) [The 3rd LP by Jurassic 5 shows some serious growth in the group. They relate to the current state of hip-hop and people's perceptions of the hip-hop community. They speak of how life has changed since they were just little kids. The editorial review states that Jurassic 5 has sold out. If you call making 1 song with the Dave Mathews Band, selling out then ya, i guess they did. But whats the problem with making a song with a group that you did an opening act for a one point? ]
Los Lonely Boys - Sacred
($12.99) [Since their worldwide breakout in 2004, Texican trio Los Lonely Boys - brothers Henry, JoJo and Ringo Garza - have achieved multi-platinum album sales, a Grammy Award (their monster hit 'Heaven' won Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group in 2005), and widespread acclaim from critics, fans and other musicians. All those experiences and more inform their commanding, propulsive new album, 'Sacred,'. ]
Tom Petty - Highway Companion
($12.99) [Highway Companion, Tom Petty's third solo album and first in a dozen years, is a timeless album about the passing of time. A constant companion on the road of rock n' roll, Petty, says Rolling Stone, is 'rock aristocracy'. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------]
Pink Floyd - Pulse
($17.99) [This landmark DVD features the first ever film of Pink Floyd playing the band's seminal album, The Dark Side of the Moon, live in concert. The set documents the 1994 Division Bell tour and was filmed at London's Earls Court during a record-breaking 14-night residency. The two-disc release contains the full concert performance with rare backstage footage and previously unseen extras making the collection a must-have for Pink Floyd fans. ]
Ali Farka Toure - Savane
($12.99) [Toure recorded Savane in the Malian capital of Bamako, as part of a three-disc project dubbed the Hotel Mande Sessions, after the studio in which the albums were cut. Savane is the last, perhaps most eloquent, installment. In concept and execution, the sessions recall teh magical combination of spontaneity and virtuosity that marked the debut releases from the Buena Vista Social Club. Toure offers reverberating, incantatory vocals to accompany his lean, hypnotically repetitive guitar lines.]
Thom Yorke - Eraser
($12.99) [This is Yorke's first solo album. 'The Eraser' features nine new tracks and was produced by Nigel Godrich. Thom is currently on tour with Radiohead, who are showcasing brand new material alongside old favorites. Radiohead continue to tour through the summer, playing the US in June and festivals across Europe in August. ]
