Bruce Cockburn - Life Short Call Now
($12.99) [Bruce Cockburn's first studio album in 3 years finds the acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter at the top of his game. The 29th album in a career that's midway through its fourth decade, Life Short Call Now is wide-ranging, playful and adventurous, eager to take chances and happy to push limits. The songs run the gamut from the jangly first single, 'Different When It Comes to You,' to the classic folksong cadences of 'Mystery,' and from the vocal intricacies of Ani DiFranco's harmonies on 'See You Tomorrow' to the deadpan modernism of the jazzy instrumental 'Nude Descending a Staircase.' ]
Dashboard Confessional - Dusk And Summer
($11.99) [The New Dashboard Confessional Album Is A Great Album If your Into The New Full-Band Sound of Dashboard That A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar Left Us On If Your Into The Earlier Era of Albums When It Was Just Chris And His Acoustic Rocking Out With His Heart-Out It Lives Up To The lyrical Genius Heart-Felt Writing That Christopher Ender Carrabba Is Known For It Is Most Likely To Be Played In Single Songs Instead Of Just Letting The Whole CD Play Track To Track Until It Is Over Like You Could Do On All Previous Dashboard Efforts]
Nelly Furtado - Loose
($11.99) [It stands to reason that gold and multiplatinum certifications (for 2003's Folklore and 2000's Whoa, Nelly!, respectively), a pair of Top 10 singles ('I'm Like a Bird' and 'Turn Off the Light'), and a Grammy Award (for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance), to name just a few accomplishments, would afford a certain level of confidence. But nothing has inspired Furtado to throw caution to the wind more than motherhood. 'Motherhood makes you fearless,' she says. 'The album is very youthful-sounding,' Furtado continues, 'and I think that's partly due to the presence of this two-year-old in my life. I was with her all day every day and then I'd go to the studio at night, and I think that translated into a playful energy I feel onstage but that hasn't really been heard on my records.' ]
Los Lonely Boys - Sacred
($12.99) [Since their worldwide breakout in 2004, Texican trio Los Lonely Boys - brothers Henry, JoJo and Ringo Garza - have achieved multi-platinum album sales, a Grammy Award (their monster hit 'Heaven' won Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group in 2005), and widespread acclaim from critics, fans and other musicians. All those experiences and more inform their commanding, propulsive new album, 'Sacred,'. ]
Phish - Live in Brooklyn (2PC)
($22.99) [Live in Brooklyn was filmed on June 17, 2004 at Keyspan Park at Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY. It marked the start of what would be the final Phish tour and was the first date after the emotional news of their breakup was announced. The show was simultaneously broadcast to movie theaters nationwide-arguably the most successful live theatrical broadcast to date, with legions of loyal Phish fans reportedly dancing in the aisles across the country. Included on this DVD are the two complete sets the band performed that day along with sound check footage and three full peformances from the second Brooklyn date.]
Pink Floyd - Pulse
($17.99) [This landmark DVD features the first ever film of Pink Floyd playing the band's seminal album, The Dark Side of the Moon, live in concert. The set documents the 1994 Division Bell tour and was filmed at London's Earls Court during a record-breaking 14-night residency. The two-disc release contains the full concert performance with rare backstage footage and previously unseen extras making the collection a must-have for Pink Floyd fans. ]
Psalm One - Death of Frequent Flyer
($10.99) [Southside Chicago native Psalm One has been reppin the Windy City on the mic since 1998. A cross between Lauryn Hill and Devin The Dude, Psalm stands ready to follow in the footsteps of fellow Chi-town greats Kanye West and Common, while taking her place next to up-and-comers like Lupe Fiasco. The self-proclaimed quirky B-Girl and former chemist ushers in a new breed of 'Rapper Girl' with the release of her Rhymesayers debut, 'The Death of Frequent Flyer.' Psalm toured with People Under The Stairs in 2006.]
Thom Yorke - Eraser
($12.99) [This is Yorke's first solo album. 'The Eraser' features nine new tracks and was produced by Nigel Godrich. Thom is currently on tour with Radiohead, who are showcasing brand new material alongside old favorites. Radiohead continue to tour through the summer, playing the US in June and festivals across Europe in August. ]
