Built to Spill - You in Reverse
($10.99) [One of the most critically acclaimed of Modern Rock bands, Built To Spill returns with its long-awaited album, the first in five years. Putting aside extensive overdubs and an atmosphere sweep, You in Reverse captures the organic, loose, impromptu feel of the band's jams. Led by influential alt-rock hero Doug Martsch and sprouting new influences and a fresh feel, Built To Spill drives ahead with You in Reverse. ]
E-40 - My ghetto report card
($12.99) ['It's all good,' 'fo'shezzy, fo'shizzle' and 'what's up pimpin' are all phrases originated by E-40. He also named Hyphy, the San Francisco Bay Area movement Rolling Stone has anointed as the 'hot new scene.' With each of his most recent seven albums having reached the R&B/Hip-Hop Top 10, the acclaimed platinum-selling rapmaster now teams with executive producer Lil Jon for My Ghetto Report Card-and Hyphy goes to the head of the class. ]
Flaming Lips - At war with the mystics
($12.99) [Cosmic, consciousness-expanding and mind-shattering, At War With The Mystics, the highly anticipated follow-up to The Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots brings together the expressiveness of recent albums with the heaviness, volume and intensity of the band's earlier work. At War With The Mystics is personal, political, psychedelic and powerful pop. ]
Morrissey - Ringleader of the Tormentors
($16.99) [This deluxe edition contains a bonus DVD with video footage of 'You Have Killed Me', 'The Youngest Was The Most Loved', 'In The Future When All Is Well' plus behind the scenes footage. ]
Pink - I'm not dead
($12.99) [Some music is celebrated for its elegant subtlety; Pink's slams you over the head. Four albums in, she's not changing her formula. I'm Not Dead touches on bulimia ('Stupid Girls'), war-mongering politicians ('Dear Mr. President'), teen angst ('Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self,' 'Runaway'), overheated pickup artists ('U + Ur Hand'), and gross materialism ('I Got Money Now'). None of it, in other words, is for featherweight listeners. ]
Daniel Powter - Daniel Powter
($15.99) [Daniel Powter confirms Powter's fine songwriting talents with standout tracks such as the memorable opening track 'Song 6', the driving melodies of 'Suspect' and the delicate ballad 'Jimmy Gets High'. It was produced by Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Crowded House) and Powter's long-term collaborator Jeff Dawson. ]
Pretty Girls Make Graves - Elan Vital
($11.99) [The Seattle quintet's follow-up to the universally acclaimed 'The New Romance', and their first album since the addition of keyboardist Leona Marrs, is by far their most ambitious, multifarious, and scorching to date. Produced by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Destroyer), 'Elan Vital' provides the band with a bigger, bolder canvas with which to weave their magic. The new material, road-tested at gigs around the globe with Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, and Death Cab For Cutie, shows a blindingly original American band who are improving with each successive album.]
Prince - 3121
($11.99) [This is one of the best albums from Prince. It is raw, funk oriented, with unbelievable drums, bass, synths, guitars, vocals, melodies... It is nothing like 'Musicology'. I thought 'Musicology' was decent album too but this one will blow your mind with its originality and power. I did not expect it be that good, honestly. You can dance to it, you can think to it... It is stunning!!!]
Umphreys McGee - Safety In Numbers
($11.99) [WOW! What an amazing album. I just love how these guys have continued to evolve and have not just attempted to recreate another Anchor Drops. Incredible songs, Great production. My personal favorites are Passing, Intentions Clear and Nemo. ]
